Corrections
When we find a mistake on a page, we fix it and list it here. Each entry gives the date, the page, what it said, and what it says now. A mistake is anything you could act on: a price, a cost range that does not match its own table, a rule, or the office you should call. Wording changes, layout changes and our monthly update of government wage and price data are not listed, because nothing in them was wrong.
We started this page on November 2, 2026. The entries before that date come from the dated change history we keep for every page. How we check prices is on our data & methodology page, and our rules for fixing mistakes are on editorial standards.
Home improvement costs in Massachusetts
What was wrong. The hiring section named the Office of Public Safety and Inspections as the office for both the construction supervisor license and home improvement contractor registration. The registration is run by a different office, the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation.
What it says now. The page names the Office of Public Safety and Inspections for the construction supervisor license, and says that contractors who work on a one- to four-unit home you own and live in must also register with the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. The same text shows in the hiring step of every cost guide when you pick Massachusetts.
Deck building cost
What was wrong. A key takeaway said premium composite was the most expensive decking. The cost table on the same page shows hardwood such as ipe at $40 to $80 per square foot, above composite at $35 to $70.
What it says now. The takeaway says tropical hardwood like ipe costs the most, which matches the table.
